How many happy holiday memories do you have? Having – and remembering – holiday memories is important to all of us. When summer arrived, we invited you to share your favourite holiday memories with us.
To get us in the holiday mood we started summer with a BBQ and shared our favourite holiday memories we’d captured with one another.
At Free Spirit, we believe that travel transports us away to special places – to create happy memories with friends and family. If you shared a holiday memory and entered our happy holiday memories competition thanks for taking part. We enjoyed viewing all the entries!

*Drum roll!* Congratulations to Joanne!
Joanne shared a lovely photo of her daughter Amy. We chose Joanne as our winner because her photo is of a happy, free-spirited lady (Amy) on holiday. Also, we loved reading the happy holiday memory that went with it…
Joanne’s happy holiday memory: ‘Amy’s photo was taken when visiting Ireland. She went on a boat trip from Carlingford Marina. While on the trip she saw a dolphin called Fin, named by the locals. Also, the captain of the boat let Amy wear his captain’s hat and steer his boat. Amy loves going on roller coasters, has such a fun nature and is loved by all.’
A £100 Red Letter Days Voucher is now making its way to Joanne to create even more happy memories with Amy.
Entries that made our top three
One of the holiday memories shared was unusual. Although there are many things to see and do on holiday Annette enjoyed a close encounter with a blackbird.
Annette: ‘There are lots of nice things to see in Stuttgart, Germany but this was my favourite moment. A juvenile blackbird was just standing on the pavement and didn’t seem to want to move. So I picked him up to take him to a safer place, in a tree, but not before I had this lovely close encounter with him.
On the other hand, Andy’s holiday photo is relatable. We never want the sun to set to end our holidays. Especially after the lack of sun this summer in the UK.
Andy: ‘This is me on holiday in Kos, Greece, not wanting the sun to set on our holiday, so I’m holding it up’.
