Top Group Holiday Destinations – Alpha Travel Insurance

Whether a yearly tradition, special occasion, or even a hen/stag do, now more than ever, we value exploring the world and making memories with our friends. The importance of the destination has grown from the desire to have the most fun, and best experiences with our friends. Whether it be visiting the most Instagram worthy rooftop bar, dancing in a famous club or lounging at a beach club, we want to visit the best places possible and create the best memories!

Your group may be stepping away from the typical group holiday ‘party destinations’ and wanting to swap out the fish bowls for some Pina coladas on the beach! You still may be unsure where you should go. So, we’ve created a list of some popular destinations for you and your pals to visit this year!

Ibiza

Top Group Holiday Destinations – Alpha Travel Insurance

Of-course it is no surprise that Ibiza has made it on the list. This Spanish Island has something to offer everyone. Perhaps not the cheapest option out there but it definitely makes up for the pennies you will be waving goodbye to.

This stunning island is home to some of the most famous clubs in the world, along with many of the world’s most famous DJ’s, such as Calvin Harris, David Guetta and Marco Carola all returning every summer. You can find them in iconic clubs like Ushuaïa, Pacha and Hï Ibiza along with a seemingly endless list of super clubs for you to try. Make sure to plan in advance though, as tickets do sell out!

If pool/beach clubs are more your thing then you have to go to O Beach and spend the entire day and evening dancing to live DJ sets. Or, head to Blue Marlin, and spend the afternoon lounging on a sun lounger, eating delicious sushi at the restaurant, and ending the night listening to a live DJ.

Other popular spots include Restaurante Cala Gracioneta – a stunning and relaxed beach restaurant where guests can eat amazing food and use the private beach onsite! Other Instagram favourites include Chi Kee Wun, Café Mambo (for the best sunset views and DJ’s) and Wi-ki-Woo.

Although you will already have so much to squeeze in to your stay you can’t miss out on a trip to the Old Town. With plenty of options for great food and street entertainment, visit this more relaxed but still lively town to spend the day or night in. Walk along the harbour and spot the biggest yachts, shop in popular mainstream shops in the new town, or head down the windy lanes of the old town for a huge choice of independent shops and restaurants.

Mykonos

Mykonos

Dubbed by some as Greece’s most glamorous island, Mykonos provides the perfect balance of beautiful scenery, great food and fun nightlife. Couples may be more likely to be looking at the super romantic island of Santorini, however, we can assure you that your group will have the most fun in the stylish island of Mykonos.

This fun island is now often compared to Ibiza, for its famous bars and clubs in the town. Fancying a more up-market experience? Then try out beach clubs such as Nammos, Scorpios or Paradise (the first of the islands beach club scene). You won’t be short of options, and you will always be left wanting to stay longer!

Combine fine dining, beach clubs and DJ’s and head to one of the lively (and Instagram worthy) restaurants in Mykonos such as Bagatelle, Zuma (which was transformed by Louis Vuitton in 2023) or Nōema – offering fusion food and live entertainment.

After all this if you need a slight break from the nightlife, explore the beautiful maze of streets in Mykonos Town and grab a couple souvenirs, sight see at the famous Panagia Paraportiani Church (the best backdrop for your new profile picture), scuba dive in the stunning clear water or, go island hopping by boat! There’s so much for you to do, so make sure you plan your activities in advance! §

Marbella

Marbella

Located on the southern coast of Spain in the Costa del Sol, Marbella has been a popular group holiday destination for quite some time. Screaming luxury while offering great nightlife it’s no wonder so many of us travel there each year – you may even spot a celebrity or two if you know the right spot!

Marbella might be best known for its fun and lively clubs such as Naô Pool Club – perhaps the trendiest place you could end up in, but Marbella doesn’t fall short in its offering of pool and beach clubs, so make sure to also check out Nikki Beach and Ocean Club (among the many others). After this, head to the some of the glamorous night clubs such as Olivia Valère, Pangea, Aqwa Mist or Funky Buddha.

During your stay you must make the most of the beautiful beaches like Playa de la Fontanilla (walking distance from the city centre), Playa del Alicate (surrounded by great beach bars) and Playa del Cable – also known as Bounty Beach (super trendy with beach parties every Sunday!)

Whilst visiting you should definitely explore the Old Town and its small cobbled streets and stop for a meal or a drink, or for the more active try out some water activities like paddle boarding or maybe even hiring a boat! §

Dubai

Dubai

The glitzy city of Dubai, found in the United Arab Emirates, known for its luxury shopping, influencers, lively nightlife, and fine dining, might be the perfect destination for you and your glamorous group to get away to (but do consider the time of year as it’s best from December to March!)

Dubai has an incredible skyline, dominated by the famous Burj Khalifia, so make sure you get a good view while visiting! A great place to do this is from the popular hotspot – the Aura Skypool, the world’s highest 360° infinity pool. You can even take a swim while soaking in the best views of the city.  Grab some lunch here, get a massage or you could even go to a yoga class here. When in Dubai you have to see the epic Dubai Fountain water show – a spectacular light, music and water show that reaches over 900ft.

Everything in Dubai has been designed to be the biggest and the best! When it comes to dinner, head to The Palm Jumeirah, and you will have the most extraordinary meal, set to the excentric glass walls of an aquarium. Other restaurants to visit for that high-end feel are Hakkasan, STK and Budda Bar! If you and your friends don’t want the night to end, head to one of the popular such as OAK Dubai, Iris, Blu and Sky 2.0. clubs (but remember entry age is 21)

Palma de Mallorca

Palma de mallorca

Palma de Mallorca is the capital of the island of Mallorca (Majorca) and has the perfect combination of vibrant city life and the sea front (with amazing beaches). The city has seen a recent surge in even more popularity, from those wanting to see the real Mallorca, and an increase in influencers showing off by lounging on one of the stunning beaches and eating at some of the great Spanish restaurants. We can see why, with an upscale feel in comparison to its nearby neighbour Magaluf, you will expect some great nightlife, nice beaches and delicious restaurants.

Whilst a popular destination, this city is still on the rise in comparison to the likes of Ibiza and Marbella, for being known for its good nightlife. However, don’t underestimate this destination with many big clubs to go to including Social Club, Kaelum and Club de Mar. if you’re looking for beach clubs then Palma also has a great offering here too! Maybe head to Purobeach Palma, Nikki Beach and Beach Club Gran Folies too.

In our opinion, the highlight of your trip will be some of the amazing food available set to the backdrop of a cool and trendy restaurant. Try out Zaranda – a high end Michelin awarded restaurant, Restaurant Urbà – an adult only restaurant with a stunning sea view, and es Princep – a Mediterranean restaurant on the rooftop of a 5* hotel.

Palma is not only good for its nightlife so you must visit the beautiful historical sites such as the Catedral-Basílica de Santa María de Mallorca, Castell de Bellver and the Royal Palace of La Almundaina. You can explore the quiet cobbled streets in the picturesque old town, go shopping and then try one of the lovely little independent restaurants.

Barcelona

Barcelona

Barcelona is possibly the ultimate city break for you and your friends! This cultured and historical city has great nightlife, beautiful historical sights and stunning beaches to relax on. For avid football fans the famous Camp Nou is just 6km from the city centre so worth a trip to watch a game or to get a stadium tour.

Not only does Barcelona have great nightlife, it has plenty to see and do! Visit the historical sights of the La Sagrada Familia, Park Güell and the Cathedral of Barcelona. Row a boat on the lake in Parc de al Ciutadella, gaze at the immersive art in the Moco Museum and explore the La Boqueria Market.

Kick the night off at a rooftop bar with incredible views from la Dolce Vitae at Majestic Hotel, Sercotel Rosellon (for the best up-close view of the La Sagrada Familia) or The Terrace at the Duquesa de Cardona. Or, if you’re looking for some fun restaurants with good food give La Selva a try, a steakhouse with jungle themed décor where guests sit on swings and can cook their own steak, or Luigi for some great Italian food, or grab some traditional Catalonian food at Casa Amàlia

There’s a huge choice of nightclubs in Barcelona from the super famous Pacha, with famous DJs from all around the world to possibly the most famous club – Opium, which similarly brings huge DJs but with the added bonus of being set at the beach. Fancying a beach club? Then head to Wet Deck at the W Hotel Barcelona, Go beach Club, Carpe Diem Lounge Club or Pacha Barcelona Beach Club. Make sure you book your beds in advance as from experience, they sell out quickly!

So, we have come to the end of our top luxury party/ group holiday ideas. Each location provides the perfect, more matured (but still fun) group holiday destination, whether just a fun holiday, a hen or a stag do or simply a yearly tradition with your friends!

Be sure to remember, as soon as you’ve booked your holiday to get your travel insurance in order to have peace of mind leading up to and throughout the trip!
